Dear Briar Hill Families,

It has been a week of rain, some sun, and more rain. The grass is getting green, the mud and puddles have been fun and students (and staff) are learning how to better dress for the weather. The only downfall to all the rain has been the delay on the roofing work. From our conversations with the roofing company, this project may go right until the end of June. Fingers crossed it wraps up sooner. By the start of next school year, we will have a new roof, an exciting new playground, and some new landscaping additions and touch-ups.

I want to thank all the families who have been part of the many years of fundraising and planning for our new playground. We recognize the hours and hours of work and the generous contributions from so many.  The tear down of the current playground and build of the new will take place over the summer with an anticipated opening for our school start in late August. Very exciting times!

Volunteer Tea June 7

We would like to show our gratitude to all the adults who make our school extra special through the many things you do. Please join us on Friday, June 7 from 11:30 to 12:30 pm. If you had a grandparent, aunt or special friend step up to help out, please let them know they are most welcome to come so we can celebrate them. To help with our planning, please RSVP to this link https://forms.gle/mKgJHLFWdw6dHKVP9. We ask that you RSVP before Monday, June 3rd.

Field Trip Fees

Thank you to all our families for paying their fees online. I know it can be frustrating as there is often a delay between a field trip and the fee being added to your MyCBE account. The field trip fees are set ahead of the field trip based on the number of students in the class. We pre-pay for the site and bus based on the number of students in each class. If you know well in advance that your family will be away on a vacation or for a Family event, please let the office and teacher know so we can try to adjust the number of students and account for your child not attending. We never want a student to miss out and we are here to help so please do reach out to myself at erlamontagne@cbe.ab.ca and we can come up with a plan.

Andrew Baxter Parent Evening

Thank you to all the parents who came out to our parent evening with Andrew Baxter. We hope you found it informative. There is an online resource that Andrew’s team has put together with parent resources. Here is the link:

Thank you to all the families who volunteered at the last casino! We have our first residency booked and it is fully funded by the casino dollars.  The residency will support social/emotional learning, resilience, fine/gross motor skills and communication.
