Briar Hill Families
As we move into the final week before Spring Break, we are looking forward to welcoming families for Parent-Teacher Interviews on Thursday evening and Friday morning. With the warmer weather and melting snow, students will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. An extra set of clothes helps students enjoy outdoor play without disruption, in case they get wet or muddy.
“Our biggest problem is believing we shouldn’t have any.” — Alan Watts
On Monday, we will have our March Connect Day, focusing on the BHS value of RESILIENCE. Challenges and mistakes, whether academic or social-emotional, are an essential part of learning. Each experience is an opportunity to grow, guided by teachers who support students with care and intention. School is a space where students can take risks, make mistakes, and learn in a safe and nurturing environment, building the confidence and perseverance they need to thrive.
Wishing all our families a productive and enjoyable week ahead. We look forward to connecting with you at the upcoming conferences.
Sincerely,
Nathan deBoer
Principal, Briar Hill School

Registration Survey – 2026–27 School Year
- As we begin planning for the 2026–27 school year, we ask that families complete a short survey indicating their child’s plans for next year. This helps us better understand projected enrolment and plan for staffing and class organization.
- Please complete one survey for each child currently attending Briar Hill by Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Families attending from outside the attendance area do not need to reapply—enrolment will automatically roll over.
- Thank you to the families that have already responded to the survey.

Student Absences & Family Travel
- As we move into the spring months, some families may be planning travel. If your child will be away from school for more than five school days, the CBE requires that an Extended Absence form be completed. This helps us maintain accurate attendance records and plan for student learning during the time away. Please contact the school office, and we will be happy to assist you with completing the extended absence report.
AGM & Council Meeting
- All families are welcome to join us for our next meeting on March 31 @ 12:15–1:00 pm. You are welcome to attend in-person or virtually

Each year, World Down Syndrome Day falls on 3/21, representing the extra copy of the 21st chromosome (Trisomy 21). Celebrate with us by rocking colorful, mismatched socks to raise awareness and spark conversations about acceptance, inclusion, and diversity.
