Hello Briar Hill Families

As we move into Spring, our school continues to be filled with meaningful learning, growth, and community connection. It’s always an exciting time of year as students engage in new learning experiences and we begin looking ahead to next year.

Registration for the 2026–2027 school year is ongoing for Kindergarten through Grade 6. If you know families who may be interested in joining the Briar Hill School community, we encourage them to connect with the school office or visit the CBE website for more information.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students and school community.

Rock Your Socks for World Down Syndrome Day

Each year, World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) falls on the 21st day of the 3rd month. That date signifies the triplication or extra copy of the 21st chromosome, which is present in those with Down Syndrome/Trisomy 21. Hence, it’s true name, Trisomy 21. Rock your colourful mismatched socks to raise awareness and encourage conversations about acceptance, inclusion and diversity.

This year’s theme: Together Against Loneliness.

Briar Hill School will celebrate WDSD on Wednesday, March 18th.  Get ready to Rock Your Socks!

Field Trips

Field trips and in-school learning experiences are wonderful ways to enrich students’ learning at Briar Hill School. These opportunities help bring classroom learning to life and create meaningful memories for students throughout the year. To help these experiences run smoothly, we ask families to support the following three steps:

1. Permission Forms
All field trip forms must be signed and returned before the experience. Teachers will aim to send forms home with as much notice as possible so families have time to review, sign, and return them.

2. Payment (Pay-to-Play)
Our school follows a Pay-to-Play process for field trips and special experiences. Payment must be completed before the activity in order for students to participate. Once payment is made through MyCBE, please record the payment confirmation number on the field trip form when returning it to the school.

3. Volunteers
Volunteers play an important role in helping make these experiences possible for our students. If you are interested in volunteering, a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required. While the school portion of the process is quick, it can take some time for Calgary Police to complete the screening and return the documentation. If you have questions about getting started, please contact the school office. We are always grateful for the support of our Briar Hill community.

Thank you for helping us make these learning opportunities possible for our students.
