As June begins, we find ourselves in the final chapter of the school year at Briar Hill. It is a time that carries both momentum and meaning, as students continue to learn, grow, and reflect on all they have accomplished. These final weeks are rich with learning and connection, and we are especially grateful for the partnership of our families in supporting students each day.

🏫 Spread the Word
Briar Hill School continues to welcome new students in Kindergarten through Grade 6 from both within and outside our designated attendance area. Many of our new registrations come through referrals from current families, and we are grateful for the positive word-of-mouth that helps grow our school community.
We currently have space available in Kindergarten, and Briar Hill Children’s Program continues to have availability for families requiring full-day care and support for Kindergarten-aged children.
If you have friends, neighbours, or family members who may be considering Briar Hill for September, we encourage you to share our information. Registration remains open throughout the summer as we continue planning for the upcoming school year.

🏫 Intentional Transitions: Welcome to Kindergarten Visit
- At Briar Hill School, we prioritize intentional transition experiences that support students as they move into new grades and learning environments.
- On June 10, our 2025–26 Kindergarten students will spend time in a Grade 1/2 classroom as part of a supportive transition experience. At the same time, we are excited to welcome our 2026–27 Kindergarten students to our Welcome to Kindergarten visit, where they will explore Kindergarten classrooms and become familiar with their new school environment.
- Families of incoming Kindergarten students will receive an email invitation with additional details prior to the visit.
📚 Finishing the Year Strong
- As we enter the final month of the school year, our focus remains on teaching, learning, and supporting students in making the most of every meaningful and memorable instructional day as the year winds down.
- We kindly ask families to continue supporting this by keeping toys, stuffies, and other personal items at home, as this helps minimize distractions and supports student engagement throughout the day.
- Regular attendance and punctuality remain very important during this final stretch, as every day of learning counts. If your child will be away, please notify the office so we can keep attendance records up to date.
- Thank you for your continued partnership as we move toward the end of the school year.
📚 Library Book Returns & MyCBE
- All library books are due by June 26.
- Fines and overdue notices continue to be updated in MyCBE throughout May and June, so families are encouraged to check accounts regularly for any outstanding items.
- If you need help identifying missing books, please contact jcsparksman@cbe.ab.ca.
- Thank you for ensuring all library resources are returned before the end of the school year.
♻️ Refundables & Clothing Donations
- Our Refundables and Clothing Donation Programs are ongoing school fundraisers that help support Briar Hill students. Donations are welcome throughout the school year, including during the summer months of July and August.
- Refundables: Families are welcome to drop off bottles, cans, juice containers, and other refundable items beside the blue recycling bin located in the teacher parking lot.
- Clothing & Textile Donations: Our two clothing donation bins accept clothing, shoes, towels, bedding, curtains, and other textiles. Donations are either reused or responsibly recycled, and the school receives funding based on the weight collected.
