Briar Hill Families
Hopefully everyone enjoyed the fall break. It was a little discombobulating to come back to school this week on a Thursday! At Briar Hill, we are very intentional about our classroom and school routines. Routines have many important benefits for students:
- Cognitive and academic benefits include improved executive functioning skills, improved focus, and enhanced organizational skills. Routines can also help to improve academic performance.
- Social/ emotional benefits include increased security and confidence, reduced stress and anxiety, and routines can promote independence
In a week when things are a little different, our teachers make sure to incorporate established routines in their classrooms to help students settle in and be ready to learn. These routines might include morning entry routines, circle meetings protocols, learning routines, and end of day clean-up routines. Ask your child about the routines in their classroom.

Casino Fundraiser
- We are short volunteers for the CASINO FUNDRAISER this Friday & Saturday, November 21st and 22nd
- Our last casino in 2023 raised over $80,000.

School Council / Parent Society
- Next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 25 at 12:13pm in the Learning Commons
- In-person or Virtual (meeting link sent out closer to the date)

- Update on School Development Plan & 2024-25 review
- Fundraising Update
BHS Value Awards
- Monthly each staff member will nominate a student for a BHS Value Award
- This is a student who has demonstrated an exemplary example of one of the 4 Values or shown significant growth in one of the Briar Hills 4 Values
- All students nominated will be announced over the intercom on the last school day of the month and receive their certificate to be recognized for efforts
Well-Being Ambassadors
- Each class in grades 1-6, will have a representative join the Well-Being Ambassadors to support our school in being a welcoming, safe, & awesome place to learn.
- This will be a committee of students that:
- Bring concerns, ideas, problems/solutions from a student perspective
- Take leadership role within school (ie: host assemblies, support school celebrations, act as school ambassadors)
- Relay information & decisions made by WBA back to their class (Gr.5-6 representatives will support Kindergarten)
- Support Well-Being initiatives at Briar Hill (ie: plan Spirit Days)
- The Well-Being Ambassadors will meet monthly, with the first meeting being Wednesday, Nov 19.
Parent Teacher Conferences
- Parent/Teacher conferences on November 27 and 28, 2025.
- Conference Booking open for families starting at 6:00am on November 20 and will close on at 11:59pm on November 26, 2025. All conferences are booked online through your MyCBE account. Conference Booking Instructions
- Parent / Teacher Conferences will be 15 minutes in length. All conferences are booked online through your MyCBE account.
