Thank you to the many families who joined us for Parent/Teacher Conferences on November 27-28. These meetings provided the opportunity for many meaningful & valuable conversations.

Briar Hill teachers take great pride in their work & are committed to collaborating closely with families to ensure clear communication, transparency, and no surprises throughout each child’s learning journey.

I also appreciated the informal conversations I had with families in the hallways. Your observations & feedback regarding our staff, programming, & school culture are incredibly valuable. These conversations help guide our work, affirming the efforts we are making while also highlighting areas where we will continue to grow & improve.

Fees

  • To help reduce end-of-year Fee Reminders & administrative work, while also supporting families by preventing a large bill at the end of the school year we are moving to a 'Pay -To-Play'
  • Families will be asked to include the Receipt # on the field trip form, indicating they have paid for their child to participate in the experience

Healthy Hunger Dec 4

  • The next Fun Lunch is Dec 4th. The Nov 16 Update to Parents did not have the Dec 4 Fun Lunch listed

Well-Being Ambassadors Update

  • The student committee had it's first meeting discussing school strengths, areas of growth, and planning 3 SPIRIT DAYS.
  • They decided to have the 3 Fridays leading into winter break to be SPIRIT Days:
    • Dec 5-  SPIRIT DAY: PJ Day 
    • DEC 12 - SPIRIT DAY: Crazy Hair or Hat Day 
    • Dec 19 - SPIRIT DAY: Red-Green and/or White-Blue Day 


Registration Documents

  • Parents who have been contacted by email for identity documents for their child, please bring an Alberta Birth Certificate or Passport into the office as soon as possible  


Late & Attendance

  • According to Alberta Education, chronic absenteeism is defined as a student missing 10% or more of scheduled school days (excused or unexcused absences)
  • To reduce student lates & support students with regular attendance, Briar Hill will be running monthly late and absentee reports and reaching out to families to notify and create a plan if needed.
  • If a student is sick please stay home, however whenever possible we want to welcome Briar Hill Students daily
