Briar Hill Families
The beautiful weather has provided a wonderful backdrop for our school community, and it’s clear everyone is embracing the seasonal changes. On behalf of our staff, I want to say how grateful we are to be part of the Briar Hill School community and to support your children each day. This is such a special place for kids to grow, learn, and feel inspired. Even as challenges continue across the province, please know that our dedication to your children — our students — is as strong as ever.
With gratitude,
Nathan deBoer
Briar Hill School Principal
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation:
- Sept. 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. We encourage all Briar Hill Families to be intentional with this day and spend some time outside reflecting on their commitment to reconciliaction.

Staffing Update:
- This week we welcomed Christian Noel, our new evening caretaker. We are excited to have him part of our team and support maintaining our school.
IPPs:
- Last Friday all students who are supported with an IPP were sent home with a parent letter, first iteration of the IPP document, and signature page.
- Please connect with your child's teacher if you have any questions or feedback about the IPP
- In the future, we will be looking at sharing these documents digitally, and not sending out printed copies.
- All IPP signature pages are due back to school October 3.
School Council:
- Thank you to the parents that joined the Sept 25th council meeting. We welcomed in our new council members and discussed current enrolment, staffing updates, BHS programming focus, reviewed general & casino budgets, and were able to address concerns and ask questions. Thank you to Ms. Williams for being the teacher representative, adding a teacher lens to the conversation.
- Next school council meeting will beTuesday, October 21 at 12:15pm. All families are encouraged and welcome to join.
- School Council meetings will follow a hybrid model to engage as many families as possible.
- They will be in-person (school learning commons) and virtual, with the meeting link sent out closer to the date
Lost & Found:
- The Lost and Found is bursting at the seams and will be cleared out at the end of the week. (It will regularly be emptied at the end of each month.)
- We are intentional about returning any items that have student's names in them, and having each class walk by the lost and found, giving students an opportunity to claim what is theirs.
- If you are missing anything, please encourage your child to have a look before the end of Friday.
- Mables Labels fundraiser info coming soon!
