Update to Parents – Week of Feb 24th 

Briar Hill Families 

Thank you to Briar Hill School families for making my first week an amazing one.  I had the privilege of meeting many parents at my first School Council Meeting and at student pick-up after school.  It is evident that Briar Hill School is a warm, inviting community, and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.   


Pink Shirt Day – Wednesday, Feb 26 

On Wednesday, all staff, students, and families are encouraged to wear pink to help spread kindness and a sense of belonging! Ms. Kobel/Ms. Makkai & Ms. Retallack’s classes will be hosting a student led Pink Shirt Day Assembly for the school at 11am.  Families with students performing are welcome to attend. 

CUPE Strike 

CBE is prioritizing in-person learning during labour action. All schools and buildings will remain open and classes will continue. Families received an email with this information last week. Strike info found HERE. 

Due to the CUPE strike, Briar Hill Family Movie Night will need to be postponed. Stay tuned for more information with a new date! 

  

Attendance 

Thank you for contacting the office when your child will be away from school.  If we don’t hear from you, we will follow up with a phone call.

Lost & Found 

Please remind your child to check out the Lost and Found for any missing items. These items will be donated at the end of the week. 

 

Save the Date – March Parent/Teacher Conferences 
The next conference period will be March 20 (evening) and March 21 (morning) right before Spring Break. More information to come regarding times and booking. 

  

Update for Individual Program Plans 
For students on IPPs, the next update will be going home on March 17th, the Monday before P/T Conferences. IPPs are to be reviewed, signed, and returned before March 21st. 

  

School Council Meeting  

Our next School Council Meeting will take place on Thursday, March 13th, 7pm, at the school. All parents are welcome to attend.
